What is the RRP Group Model?

“Trauma is not what happens to you.
Trauma is what happens inside you, as a result of what happens to you.”

— Gabor Maté

The RRP Group Model, founded and developed by Amanda Curtin, LICSW and Patrick Teahan, LICSW, is a group therapy model that aims to address those who have experienced Childhood Trauma.  In the group, we create a safe space for participants to explore the effects of their childhood on their current lives.  Various strategies and educational resources are interwoven through the group experience:  experiential strategies, psychoeducation about Childhood Trauma, acknowledgement of the rights of childhood, understanding the family "rules",  and fostering increased communication between the Adult and Child-self parts, and learning healthy ways to manage thoughts and feelings while coming to terms with the grief of the unmet needs of the inner child,  are important areas that are addressed in this group experience.

The Model Also Aims To:

  • Allow you to tell your story of childhood trauma, be witnessed and heard, maybe for the first time. It provides a forum for you to acknowledge the child in you that may have never had the opportunity to tell the truth about your experience.

  • Practice intimacy - Being with others in a group process allows you to address conflicts and work towards resolution with experiential strategies.  It provides an opportunity to try out  new and healthy ways of working out difficulties that may arise in relationships.

  • Develop an increased ability to Reparent your inner child in a healthy and compassionate way.

If you think you may benefit from a group like this, CLICK HERE to complete this questionnaire to see if the group process may be beneficial.

Groups will run in the Fall of 2024. Groups are not covered by insurance, and the rate is $75 per group session.
